Program Overview and Areas of Focus:
The Climate Change Program encompasses two main initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural resilience in Bangladesh by addressing the direct and indirect challenges posed by climate change:
1. Regenerative Agriculture with Smallholder Farming Communities
- The program works with smallholder farming communities to promote regenerative agriculture practices. These practices focus on improving soil health, increasing crop production, and reducing the environmental impact of farming.
- Regenerative agriculture methods include improving soil structure, reducing carbon emissions, and ensuring sustainable farming while contributing to the overall mitigation of climate change effects.
2. Climate-Friendly Paddy Cultivation
- The program aims to promote climate-friendly paddy cultivation by introducing efficient water management practices, such as alternate wetting and drying (AWD) of paddy fields.
- This approach reduces carbon emissions, conserves water resources, and increases paddy production by reducing overall cultivation costs, thereby supporting the livelihood of farmers.
